Simferopol, February 28 (PolitNavigator, Evgeny Andreev) – The true state of affairs in the Russian Crimea is far from the joyful picture that the federal center paints for itself. The positions of the pro-Ukrainian fifth column are still strong; officials, taking advantage of the “island” position of the peninsula, sometimes resort to sabotage of Moscow’s policies.

Journalist of the publication Alexey Vasiliev writes about this in the Crimean Time newspaper.

“For some reason, Moscow decided that Crimea became Russian and included in the board in an instant. Dangerous misconception! The fifth column is not asleep in Crimea. It’s sad that among the national traitors there are also Slavs who are disadvantaged by the new government: these are the families of former Ukrainian officers who served in Crimea, businessmen who organized their affairs not according to the law, but according to concepts, all those who, for various reasons, were laid off and simply scoundrels. I even heard about Russophobic teachers. I can imagine what they will teach our children! In addition, Crimean moneybags began to return to the peninsula, having spent the spring, summer and winter in Kyiv and not wanting to give up their share of the Crimean pie. There is no one to pin them down,” the author notes.

In his opinion, even moral support for “genuine Russian organizations, publications and websites” has ceased in the republic.

“The hearths of Russian culture are being destroyed: what is it worth to close the Russian Cultural Center in Simferopol! But they support idiotic initiatives like making a Russian flag out of pancakes or crazy ideas like building a puppet theater in the shape of St. Basil’s Cathedral,” the Crimean journalist is indignant.

Unfortunately, he believes, due to the current difficult foreign policy situation, Moscow simply does not get around to the isolated peninsula:

“While our president, who saved the Crimeans from physical destruction, defends the honor of the state, some rogue bureaucrats on the ground decided that he has no time for them now, they can continue to steal in troubled waters, not follow the orders of the leadership and simply sabotage them. It is clear that with this approach to the matter, it is not possible to talk about improving the quality of life of all Crimeans,” reflects Alexey Vasiliev.
