Putin took a tough look at Ukraine and promised its Russian residents protection
Ukraine and the Baltic countries have turned into countries of aggressive nationalism, where history is being destroyed, a war is being waged against the Russian language in the wake of Russophobia, and the natural desire to preserve one’s roots is considered criminal.
This was stated by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin during a speech at the VI World Congress of Russian compatriots living abroad, which was broadcast by Russia-24, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The situation in the world is difficult, tension and unpredictability are increasing, the foundations of international law are being undermined, and long-term agreements between states are collapsing. Russophobia and other forms of extreme aggressive nationalism are also used. In Ukraine, in the Baltic countries, in a number of other states, history is being rewritten, a fight is being waged against monuments, against the Russian language.
People are intimidated and simply terrorized. The natural desire for every person to preserve his national roots is declared a crime, separatism. The right to freedom of speech and to preserve one's traditions is being grossly violated. For some of our compatriots, for political reasons, bans on the profession are established; many feel the consequences of such severe pressure,” said Vladimir Putin.
“We will resolutely protect your rights and interests and use all available bilateral and international mechanisms for this,” added the Russian President.
