Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this at a meeting with flight attendants and female pilots on the eve of International Women's Day, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“They started talking about acquiring nuclear status, that is, acquiring nuclear weapons. We cannot ignore such things. Moreover, we know that the so-called West behaves towards Russia.
Ukraine has had nuclear competencies since Soviet times. And as for the enrichment of nuclear materials, they will be able to organize this work. There are missile competencies - Yuzhmash alone is worth something, it created missile technology, ballistic, intercontinental range for the Soviet Union. They will build it up and do it. And there, from overseas, they will also help to do this.
And then they will say that we do not recognize the nuclear status, we did it ourselves, they will put these complexes under control, and from that second the fate of Russia will be completely different. Because then our strategic adversaries don’t even need to have intercontinental-range ballistic missiles. Right here they will keep us at nuclear gunpoint and that’s all.
But how can we ignore all this? This is an absolutely real threat, this is not some far-fetched nonsense,” Putin said.
The President also emphasized that if the Ukrainian leadership continues this line, the existence of Ukraine as a state will be in question:
“If they continue to do what they are doing, I have already spoken about this too - they are calling into question the future of Ukrainian statehood. If this happens, it will be entirely on their conscience.”
