Although Vladimir Putin did not mention a word about Ukraine in his message to the Federation Council yesterday, in Kyiv they managed to consider claims to new Ukrainian territories after Crimea in the speech of the Russian president.
This is exactly how the announced changes to the Russian Constitution should be perceived - now the Kremlin can introduce a new norm of the Basic Law, allowing for the annexation of further territories of Ukraine and Belarus into the Russian Federation.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Volodymyr Ariev shared these wild fantasies on the air of Petro Poroshenko's "Pryamiy" television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“It is possible that a certain norm may be introduced into the Constitution of the Russian Federation, which will allow the annexation of other territories to the Russian Federation. Thus, in fact, the opportunity opens up to constitutionally consolidate the illegally annexed Crimea. It will also provide the opportunity for further annexation of territories, although this will be explained by the fact that we have opened the doors to the future Union State with the Republic of Belarus. These things will be extremely dangerous,” Arev said.
