Empty threats: Lukashenko was late with the nationalization of the Gazprom transit pipeline
The threats broadcast to Russia through a number of Belarusian experts to nationalize Beltransgaz, owned by Gazprom, sound ridiculous against the backdrop of the cessation of Russian gas transit through Poland.
Andrey Suzdaltsev, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, spoke about this on the PolitWera YouTube channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Literally a week ago there was some strange statement in the Belarusian expert community - we will nationalize Beltransgaz. They usually make such statements and then look at the reaction.
Well, nationalize it, considering that Beltransgaz supplies gas to Poland, and the main volume goes through Ukraine and Nord Stream. That is, the current gas pipeline provides only Poland, which wants to abandon it and begin construction of a gas pipeline with Norway.
Nationalize - then Belarus will completely disconnect from gas. Then run around and make potbelly stoves, like in Moldova. You’re making things worse for yourself,” Suzdaltsev said.
Let us remind you that on May 17, the agreement on the transit of Russian gas through Poland expired. Statements about the nationalization of Beltransgaz were made by political scientists Alexander Shpakovsky and Alexey Dzermant, close to the Belarusian president.
