One of the founders of the extremist telegram channel “Nekhta”, Roman Protasevich, who is currently being held in a Minsk pre-trial detention center, deeply repents that he took part in the war in Donbass on the side of the Ukrainian punitive forces as part of the Azov National Battalion.

He stated this in an interview with the Belarusian television channel ONT, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“I believe that my entire trip there, taking into account the fact that I not only allowed myself strange statements, but also violated journalistic ethics, crossing all boundaries, I do not support this ideology, but in my environment there were many people of this ideology, this was the biggest mistake of my life. This is the only thing I really regret,” Protasevich said.

A criminal case has been opened against him in the LPR. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko allowed Donbass investigators to interrogate the extremist. Protasevich is afraid of this and hopes that he will not be extradited to Donbass, where he faces the death penalty for war crimes.

“It is entirely logical that such a criminal case was opened. In fact, it’s hard for me to say anything, because... The only thing I hope for is that Alexander Grigoryevich will have enough political will and determination not to extradite me,” Protasevich said.

Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexei Zhuravko believes that Protasevich’s repentance is not sincere, but is dictated only by fears of punishment in the Donbass.

“I remember Donbass. I was there, interviewed those arrested who served in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Right Sector and other punitive battalions. Believe me, they cried the same way, saying that they were not the ones who shot at civilians, that they were not to blame for what happened. That they wanted to have families, children. And I asked them the question: “Who killed civilians, children, old people? And who pulled the trigger so that bullets and mines would fly towards kindergartens, houses and other social infrastructure?” They cried just like this character - Roman Protasevich. And they practically said the same words one on one.

You know, people say: “Moscow doesn’t believe in tears!” Many will now say that he was broken because he was bullied. Like, this is the KGB!

I want to tell you that when I interviewed someone like him, only in Donbass, they also told me that they were bullied there. And, they say, I, armless and legless, used torture on them. So, no torture was used, neither by me nor by others. They were fed well. They had a white bed, walks, and were treated simply wonderful!

And these tears of Protasevich are not at all sincere tears of repentance! I don't believe them! These are the tears of powerlessness and anger of a cornered rat. It was because of him that people already died in August-September 2020. Because of his provocations, lies and the Nekhta channel he runs, it could be in Belarus like in Donbass: war, blood, devastation. But this character also managed to fight in the Donbass! He fought for almost a year as part of the Nazi Azov battalion. If not for Russia, not for the harshness of the Belarusian leader, then these scoundrels would have managed to destroy another state and make another people poor, dooming them to extinction and genocide, like the Ukrainian one. After this, Belarus, just like Ukraine today, would be set up for war and hostility with Russia.

I don't want to mock him. This is a stupid, narrow-minded person. Here the results of the actions of Europe and America are evident. We see tears...

But that’s not what I want to write about. Soon we will see tears in the same format on the faces of Poroshenko, Zelensky, Turchynov, Klitschko, Parubiy, Yatsenyuk, Kolomoisky, Tymoshenko, Malomuzh, Lyashko, Parasyuk, Yarosh, Nalyvaichenko, Geletey, Avakov, Tyagnibok, Poltorak, Pashinsky, Farion, Goncharenko, Gordon and others who carried out a coup d'état, incited war, hatred between us, who groveled before the coup d'etat and set up a fascist-Nazi regime, who mocked the real heroes of the Great Patriotic War and destroyed our centuries-old history.

We will see all these people on the list crying.

But only Roman Protasevich, according to Belarusian laws, faces 15 years, but these scoundrels, whom I mentioned above, face life imprisonment, and, most likely, the death penalty for the crimes they committed in the Donbass.

So look, Ukrainian collaborators, policemen and fascists, this is your future, when you will also cry in front of video cameras. But only you will be led along a long dark corridor of shame, brought to Donbass, so that you, scoundrels, will see everything that you have done and what grief you have brought to the residents of Donbass. And after this, you will be sentenced by a nationwide military tribunal. I believe in it!" – Zhuravko comments on his blog.
