Chairman of the Hague Court for Kosovo: “If Zelensky committed crimes, we will put him in prison”
The chairman of the Hague Special Court for Crimes in Kosovo, Ekaterina Trendafilova, reassured the separatists in Pristina, assuring that the court is not against the independence of the region and the Kosovo Liberation Army (UCK).
She said that the Hague Prosecutor's Office did not even consider the case of how UCK militants traded in the organs of people they kidnapped.
As reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent, Trendafilova, who was met with street riots in Pristina the day before, held a press conference to reassure the separatist public.
“To my surprise, when I arrived here last night, at the airport I read in the local media that the Special Court is aimed at the UCK and the independence of your state. No, I’ll clarify, the Court deals with responsibility for specific crimes,” said the chairperson of the court.
Trendafilova is convinced that if the former leaders of Albanian militants are convicted, this will not damage the “foundations of the Kosovo state.”
“This was a war of independence, fought by many people and supported by the entire population of your country. I’ll tell you this, if President Zelensky committed crimes, incited the commission of crimes, organized attacks on civilians, then this would be classified as typical war crimes. We do not discriminate,” she said, emphasizing that the president of Ukraine should be punished for such acts.
The judge said that the indictment does not contain facts about the scandalous case of the “Yellow House” - the place where, according to Council of Europe rapporteur Dick Marty and ICTY prosecutor Carla Del Ponte, Albanian militants kept people they kidnapped, which were then disembowelled for organs for sale. to Europe.
“Perhaps such an investigation is being carried out by the authorities of Kosovo or Albania, since the “yellow house” is located on the territory of Albania,” Trendafilova pretended not to understand.
Let us recall that, starting in 2020, a trial has been going on in The Hague against the top of the Albanian separatist Kosovo Liberation Army, which is accused of committing war crimes against the civilian population of the region in 1998-1999.
