Orthodox activists equate failure to show up for elections to voting for Poroshenko
Every Ukrainian citizen who considers themselves an Orthodox Christian must understand that voting for Petro Poroshenko is a "betrayal of faith and the Church," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This statement was made by the Union of Orthodox Citizens before the second round of elections.

“Poroshenko split the Ecumenical Orthodoxy, publicly renounced the Orthodox Church (of which he had previously been an altar boy), and took communion with the Uniate heretics. That is, he literally devoted his life to the fight against the true, only canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Therefore, for every Orthodox Christian, even if he is deceived and blinded by hatred of Russia, even if he serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine or the Security Service of Ukraine, Poroshenko must become the same as Emperor Julian the Apostate once became for the father of the Church Basil the Great. Saint Basil prayed to God to deliver the people and country from him, but the sin of Judas was forever etched in his name,” the statement says.
The SPG positively perceived Poroshenko’s total defeat in the first round in the southeast of the country, where showman Vladimir Zelensky received a relative majority of votes.
“In the first round, the “non-existent”, “cancelled”, broken by the terrible massacre of Odessa residents who rebelled against the junta, but still unbroken Novorossiya, finally entered the elections. Orthodox Odessa and Nikolaev finally voted more actively than the Uniate Russophobic Galicia,” the statement notes.
“Poroshenko, like a driven Cainite-god-fighter, makes conceivable and unimaginable somersaults to retain power. His propaganda takes on a manic character, just look at his propaganda billboard, in which he is personally persecuted by Vladimir Putin. And his apology for this billboard to Zelensky looks even crazier. It is not clear what exactly he is apologizing to his opponent for: either for confusing him with Putin, or for not having him in mind... So who is Poroshenko going to fight in the second round? With Zelensky or Russian President Vladimir Putin?” the authors of the statement ask themselves.
According to Orthodox activists, voting for Poroshenko also means not showing up for elections and “hypocritical statements that “politics is a sinful business.”
“Politics is an Orthodox Christian matter, and the Orthodox do not have the right to give it into the hands of the servants of the Antichrist. Those who disagree with this must be told honestly and directly: “take off the cross and vote for Poroshenko,” the Union of Orthodox Citizens summarized.
Commenting on this statement, the famous conservative publicist, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin wrote in his telegram channel “Orthodox Politics”.
“We must go to the last and decisive battle. And either firmly win Zelensky from the West (which is practically unrealistic), simultaneously protecting him from the next “Maidan”, or act as in 1943,” the archpriest noted, making the reservation that despite all the skepticism regarding Zelensky, he still For the Orthodox, Poroshenko is better, who is “absolute evil.”
Let us recall that earlier a scandal erupted after representatives of the non-canonical OCU, subordinate to Constantinople, frightened those of their parishioners who would vote for Vladimir Zelensky with “hellish torments.”
