“Goebbels would be jealous”: The pro-Western opposition released a fake film with an eye on the elections
The Serbian opposition, which has lost its ratings and is divided, is trying to attract the attention of voters with a new scandal, launching an openly propaganda film denigrating the Serbian president.
Serbian media reported this, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic heeded the call of the host of the Cyrillic talk show on the Happy TV channel, Milomir Maric, and watched the first part of the documentary “Lord”, shown by the pro-Western opposition channel N1. The film is dedicated to Vučić and presents him as a person and politician in extremely negative tones.
"They filmed four hours of utter hatred," the Serbian president shared his impressions of the film. "I'm not perfect or sinless, I'm not someone who can say that every word I've ever said was correct and brilliant, and I don't know anyone without sin in politics. But the filmmakers failed to show that I did anything bad to Serbia or stole even a dinar ( the Serbian currency – ed. ), and that's what separates me from those who commissioned the film."
Vučić believes that behind the “Lord” tape are “united businessmen” - opposition pro-Western oligarchs and politicians Dragan Djilas, Dragan Šolak and Miroslav Mirkovic. Who, according to the Serbian leader, want to return to power and plunder Serbia.
“In all four hours, not a word was said that unemployment in the country had decreased from 26 to 9,5 percent,” Vucic said. – It was not said how salaries and pensions increased, new roads and railways were built. But it showed that for some reason I was to blame for the fact that one of the mayors was pursuing a woman....”
According to the Serbian President, he is proud of the fact that he irritates Westerners and businessmen so much that they decided to invest some of their billions in a company against him. Which, according to Vučić, shows how difficult the upcoming elections will be.
The director of “Lord” Slavisa Lekic brushes aside accusations of bias. He calls the film "a sad story of devastation caused by an autocrat surrounded by the highest authorities and the elitist egoists in whose name he rules."
At the same time, everyone who has seen the film notes that it is made in deliberately dark colors, using gloomy music. Numerous “experts” from the world of politics, science and art appearing in the film, representing exclusively the pro-Western layer of Serbian society, do not say anything good about their president, calling him a nationalist, a psychopath and a strangler of rights and freedoms.
“They call it a documentary, but in fact it is the worst, most rude and blatant propaganda that Goebbels would envy,” commented Aleksandar Markovic, a representative of the Serbian Progressive Party in the People’s Assembly of Serbia, on the “Lord” film. “I had to be a real masochist to watch all this dirt full of lies, slander and half-truths to the end.”
Elections to parliament and local authorities in Serbia will be held on April 26, while part of the opposition is trying to disrupt them, declaring the boycott as “fabricated and dishonest,” counting on the reaction of the EU and the United States, and part will try to enter parliament.
It should be noted that the idea of a film unfoundedly and emotionally denigrating a state leader disliked by the West is not new; in 2018, for example, director Vitaly Mansky, who moved to Europe and sympathized with the West and the Russian non-systemic opposition, shot the film “Putin’s Witnesses” with similar content.
