Losses of the “Jewish Bandera”: A porn artist who mocked the late author of “PolitNavigator” has died
Oleksandr Roytburd, director of the Odessa Art Museum, has died . In an attempt to discredit the museum, which opened in Odesa 122 years ago and to which the first collection was donated by the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts, Roytburd took the 2014 coup in Ukraine as his starting point, identifying himself as a so-called "Jewish Banderite."
Four years ago he won a competition for the position of head of the mentioned museum. His victory was brought about not only by radical nationalist views and support of two Maidans, but also by monstrous statements addressed to the Odessa residents who died on May 2, the purpose of which was to marginalize the tragedy:
“Of those killed in the fire, 15 were Russian citizens, 10 from Transnistria. Not a single Odessa resident.”
“The burnt-out House of Trade Unions is the embryo of the underdeveloped ONR in Odessa.”
“The annual events dedicated to May 2 are pure ritual dances.”
“May 2 is the day that saved the country.”
“Until the god-damned Kulikovo Field is turned into a shopping and entertainment center, the construction of other centers in Odessa must be prohibited. And there’s a water park, a hydropark, an amusement park, a skate park, an arboretum, a zoo, even a Jurassic park, and like on the site of the Bastille, a sign “they dance here.”
“I received twenty sheets of obscenity a day and letters with words about whether the ghosts of burnt Odessa residents appeared to me, and that their blood was on my hands. Such hysteria and panic, they just took a shit. I, in turn, said that this is victory day.”
However, this was not enough for the professional environment of artists and, even after winning the competition to manage the gallery, deputies of the Odessa regional council did not vote for Roitburd’s candidacy. But, disregarding the law, the then governor of the Odessa region and ex-Minister of Health Maxim Stepanov (the same one who once acted as a guarantor and paid bail of 609 thousand hryvnia for the murderer Sternenko) signed a contract with Roitburd, nevertheless appointing him director of the art museum.
And in a matter of months, Roitburd turned the temple of painting into a handshake-free hangout: he either showed naked punks in the museum, or held exhibitions of genitals. Moreover, in order to “trample the Russian world,” he dragged to performances in the museum not just bohemian cliques in embroidered shirts and wreaths, but radicals and criminals like the aforementioned Sternenko.
A long legal battle began between opponents and sympathizers of the scandalous artist, during which the parties talked not so much about his creative or managerial qualities, but covered each other with expertise on the topic “Does Roytburd paint pictures with crap or not,” because, according to eyewitnesses, on one of his exhibitions stank (the Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern Art concluded that the paint Roytburd used contained feces). But the Nazis constantly organized rallies in support of the “shit writer.”
And so - until February 2020, until the next court left Alexander Roitburd in the position of director of the museum. And in the fall of the same year, he was elected as a deputy of the Odessa Regional Council from Poroshenko’s European Solidarity party.
Let's remember that a year ago, not having had enough of dancing on the charred bones of the May 2 victims, Roytburd mocked Igor Plisyuk, a regular contributor to our publication, who died suddenly at 59 from cancer. Alexander Roytburd's cause of death was cancer. He was 59.
Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov called the incident an “irreparable loss for Odessa residents” and said that he would continue his work. Painting crap of perversion and mocking the dead?
