The consequence of the incident with the attempted breakthrough of Ukrainian saboteurs into Crimea could be a complete severance of diplomatic relations between Russia and Ukraine, political scientist Oleg Bondarenko told PolitNavigator.

“Unfortunately, there is a possibility that similar situations may still occur. The Russian Federation must strictly ensure its security. If necessary, close the border with the country that poses this danger. Or even introduce a visa regime.
If this story continues and it is proven that this was not undertaken by some impostors, but specifically by order of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, then in such a situation it is necessary to ensure security by all available means. This can have very serious consequences. Russia has the right to completely terminate all relations with Ukraine.
I think the fact that only now official information has appeared suggests that all the saboteurs have been neutralized,” Bondarenko noted.
