After Zelensky’s victory, Moscow needs to change approaches – Russian media
After the victory of Vladimir Zelensky in the presidential elections in Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation must demonstrate new approaches.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta comes to this conclusion, noting that Moscow needs to understand why Zelensky won if it wants to somehow build relations with the new Ukrainian government.

“Perhaps the Ukrainians simply chose “anti-Poroshenko.” But perhaps they voted for peace and normalization of relations with Russia, truly believing that Zelensky could achieve this. Several factors probably came together. Moscow needs to correctly interpret this political message,” the publication writes.
At the same time, it is emphasized that Zelensky will begin his presidential term as an opponent of Russia, and not as its friend, colleague or promoter of interests, since no one has canceled the Crimean and Donbass agenda.
“Will the Kremlin be able to take Zelensky seriously and not engage in his consistent marginalization? Inside the country, the Russian government is not used to talking to its opponents on equal terms, without showing them their place, without belittling them. But Zelensky received a serious mandate, and if relations with Ukraine are important for the Russian Federation, then Moscow will have to rebuild. This applies to all institutions responsible for external relations, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for which, it seems, the main activity is increasingly becoming propaganda, rather than diplomacy, establishing contacts,” NG sums up.
