The head of the Agrarian Party of Ukraine, Vitaly Skotsyk, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.

“In 2013, the food market in our country was worth $17,6 billion. This year there will be 6,8 - 6,9 billion. Over the past three years, food consumption has fallen by 2,4 times. If in 2013 GDP per capita was $3700, last year – 1750, then this year in real terms it will be approximately $1500 – 1550,” said a representative of the farmers.

“The Verkhovna Rada and the two governments have completely put an end to the food processing industry. It is clear that when they sell pork at a loss, the enterprises close sooner or later. And people can't buy what they need today. Unfortunately, the table of every Ukrainian for these New Year holidays will be much poorer than in all previous years,” Skotsik concluded.
