Poroshenko tactically outplayed Zelensky - political scientist
During the recent vote in the Rada of the law on the land market and the so-called “anti-Kolomoisky” law, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky entered into an alliance with his main opponent, ex-President Petro Poroshenko, whose faction added Zelensky the necessary number of votes to adopt these acts.
This threatens the current guarantor with a loss of electoral support, political scientist Andrei Zolotarev stated on the First Cossack TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The expert does not rule out that in exchange Poroshenko received a mitigation of the criminal cases brought against him.
“Most likely there was an exchange - a softening of pressure on Poroshenko’s criminal cases in favor of supporting the president on key bills. This is not a formalized alliance, but here Poroshenko appears as the winner, the tactical winner. There is no strategic victory.
But Zelensky is strategically losing. Why? Because this is the basics of political technology - never rely on your main political opponent to solve certain political problems, as this demoralizes and destroys your electoral core. And this electoral core of Zelensky’s supporters can receive quite a powerful blow,” Zolotarev said.
