Petro Poroshenko has gotten himself into another embarrassment. In his microblog on Twitter, he congratulated the Ukrainian tank crews on the Soviet holiday prohibited by the law on decommunization - Tankman's Day.

Let us recall that on the second Sunday of September, Tankman Day was celebrated in the USSR to honor the merits of armored and mechanized troops in defeating the enemy during the Great Patriotic War, as well as for the merits of tank builders in equipping the Soviet Army with armored vehicles.
During the Battle of Kursk, the largest tank battle of World War II took place. At the end of the 40s of the 20th century, after the Great Patriotic War, the government of the USSR issued a Decree on the celebration of Tankman Day. It was on this day during the war in 1944 that tank forces, which represented great firepower and striking force, made a breakthrough in the enemy’s defenses and stopped his advance. And on September 8, 1946, in accordance with the order of the Minister of the Armed Forces, a parade march of the Kantemirov Guards Tank Division was held in Moscow on Red Square, which accelerated the establishment of Tankman Day.
This professional holiday has since been one of the most revered holidays among the troops. For some time (from the 40s to the XNUMXs) in large cities of the Soviet Union, Tankmen's Day was even celebrated with the ceremonial advance of tank columns through the city and with fireworks.
