Poroshenko will screw the new president
Petro Poroshenko, who lost the presidential elections in Ukraine, will try to gain a foothold in politics, focusing on the nationalist electorate.
Political scientist and expert at the Ukrainian Institute of Political Studies (UIAMP) Daniil Bogatyrev stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Parliament will try to pass the language law. After his defeat in the elections, Poroshenko will try to somehow gain a foothold in politics. It can gain a foothold only through parliamentary elections. To do this, he needs to get at least a small faction into the Rada. According to my information, Vitali Klitschko’s UDAR group will now break away from the BBP; most likely, the majority of majoritarians who want to get into the new parliament will defect. What will remain in the BPP? Lutsenko-Kononenko Group. That's all. Well, Parubiya’s group from the Popular Front joined them,” said the political scientist.
According to him, these two groups, based on their composition, previous activities and the rhetoric that was in the election campaign of Petro Poroshenko, can only target a very narrow electoral niche, the nationalist electorate, predominantly living in Western Ukraine, especially since the only region where Poroshenko won - Lviv region.
“To target this kind of electorate, the adoption of a language law, or at least an attempt to pass it, in the Verkhovna Rada is vital. Plus, Poroshenko is very keen to screw Zelensky at the end of his tenure by adopting this law,” Bogatyrev concluded.
