The vote in the Verkhovna Rada for the law banning the use of the Russian language in the public sphere, initiated by Petro Poroshenko, suspiciously coincided with Vladimir Putin’s decree on simplifying the issuance of Russian passports in the LDPR.

One gets the feeling that everything happened in the interests of one and the same country, and this is not Ukraine.

This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bortnik on the channel “Capital”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.

“Putin, with one stroke of his pen, gained several million potential new citizens,” Bortnik said.

“You can say politically incorrectly: white, Slavic, Orthodox. There is such a nuance,” noted the channel’s host, political scientist Dmitry Dzhangirov.

“Against the background of the demographic decline that exists in Russia, this is correcting. Moreover, we understand that the youngest and most powerful citizens will leave Donbass for Russian territory.

What have we gained by accepting the same linguistic law? I argued today. Here, a man with the stroke of a pen, it is legal or not legal, we will talk about this forever, depending on which side of the demarcation line you are on, but he acquired it. What have we gained, Ukraine, from the language law, from everything else, what kind of profit do we have? Where is our national interest, and was there any at all?” – Bortnik was indignant.

“I have the impression that Putin was both in our Verkhovna Rada and in the Kremlin at the same time. Both there and there he made decisions based on his own interests. Because today politicians, by adopting a language law, also encouraged potential citizens, Russian-speaking and foreign-speaking, to acquire citizenship of other countries.

Today, any person can go to Transcarpathia or Donetsk-Lugansk, get a residence permit there and calmly apply for Russian or Hungarian citizenship,” the expert added.
