Poroshenko, kicked out of Crimea, presented himself as a hero
President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko spoke about how he visited Crimea in February 2014. He did this at the request of prosecutors during interrogation in the case of treason against Viktor Yanukovych, which is being heard in the Obolonsky District Court of Kyiv.
According to Poroshenko, he behaved like a hero who spoke out against the Russian aggressors, but video footage from those days shows that ordinary Crimeans greeted him unfriendly.

“The airport was surrounded. Journalists with cameras stood behind this chain. Several people tried to stop me. There was a fight. Broke through the encirclement. And when I entered the camera shooting area, they were afraid to pursue me,” Poroshenko said.
Then Poroshenko began to fantasize and tell how the Crimeans supported him and protected him from provocateurs.
“At the Verkhovna Rada of Crimea, I was surrounded first by dozens and then by hundreds of people. Some of them were provocateurs who tried to hit me, put pressure on me, and threatened me. Some people came to my defense. I believe there was an immediate threat to my life. Thanks to those people who protected me with their actions,” Poroshenko said.
The video footage shows that only police officers defended Poroshenko, and ordinary people unanimously chanted “Get out of Crimea!”
