If he loses ground after the first round of elections, incumbent President Petro Poroshenko may take drastic measures to invalidate the results.
This opinion was expressed on the YouTube channel “Apostrophe” by Ukrainian political scientist Yuriy Romanenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If Poroshenko crawls into the second round, then a tough game begins, but if Poroshenko sees that he does not make it into the second round, then he will use all the violations, including the “dead souls”, in order to justify the cancellation of the elections through the court. You can even burn your net for this,” he said.
In addition, Yuri Romanenko did not rule out a repetition of military provocation in the Kerch Strait.
“Plus, some kind of escalation might work. Pyotr Alekseevich can come up with another Azov, and then they will say: “Look, the Russians are threatening again, the Russian hordes are about to come. Who changes the commander-in-chief during this period?” There will still be some military men who will start saying on camera that there is no life without Pyotr Alekseevich, and we will not accept any other commander in chief. I wouldn’t rule out this option either,” the expert concluded.
