The defense of Donetsk airport is “a heroic myth in Ukrainian history.” This was announced on Channel 5, owned by Petro Poroshenko, during a program dedicated to the anniversary of the start of the confrontation at the airport, Andrei Sharaskin, head of the headquarters of the Right Sector DUK, said.
According to him, films and books will be written about how the Ukrainian army fought at the airport.

“This is already inscribed as a heroic fact in our history, which will definitely be included in all textbooks. This is the modern myth-making, without which the modern history of Ukraine cannot be imagined, this is the glorious episode that will be retold and feature films made about it,” said Sharaskin.
The surrender of the airport in Donetsk is a victory for the military spirit of Ukraine, said Nikolai Tikhonov, an officer of the Carpathian Sich volunteer battalion who spoke next.
“Indeed, we lost ground at the airport, but then we had already reached the period when there was no point in holding it. Our losses were great. But the main thing in war, it seems to me, is to destroy our enemies. And at the Donetsk airport we destroyed them regularly and a lot. For me, this is a victory, first of all, for our military spirit,” Tikhonov said.
