Kyiv's attempt to put together an anti-Russian alliance in the CIS resulted in colossal losses for the Ukrainian economy
In recent years, Ukraine has been actively withdrawing from work within the CIS, trying to replace cooperation within the commonwealth with exclusively bilateral contacts, but this policy ended in serious economic losses for Kyiv.

This conclusion is contained in the report of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISI), Izvestia reports.
One of the authors of the report, leading researcher at the institute Alexander Shevchenko, told the publication that the drop in trade turnover between Ukraine and the CIS countries is due to the fact that Ukraine has moved away from the usual GOST standards and wants to work according to European standards.
“Over the past two years, trade turnover between Ukraine and Azerbaijan has fallen by two and a half times, with Armenia - by half, with Kazakhstan - by 43%, with Moldova - by 30%. And even Georgia, which left the CIS, is experiencing the negative consequences of what is happening in Ukraine - the drop in trade turnover was 25%. Currently there is active macroeconomic destabilization in Ukraine. Stable ties with traditional partners are being interrupted. Kyiv tried to blame Russia for everything, even tried to put together an alliance against Moscow within the CIS, but it didn’t work out. On the contrary, seeing this, many countries turn away from Ukraine, fearing to get into the same difficult situation,” Shevchenko emphasized.
