The “powder-bot” political scientist declared Lukashenko a “hybrid ally of Ukraine”
Until recently, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was a “hybrid ally” of Ukraine.
Political scientist Yevgeniy Magda, who serves the interests of ex-president Petro Poroshenko, stated this in an interview with Euroradio, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
“Until 2020, it was largely a hybrid ally of Ukraine. This is a fact of cooperation in the supply of fuels and lubricants, which continues today. Belarusian gasoline dominates the Ukrainian market. This is a fact of military-technical cooperation. The fact is that Minsk did not emphasize its status as a member of the CSTO in bilateral relations. This was enough for Ukraine at that time,” Magda said.
He believes that even now, after Ukraine imposed sanctions and closed the skies for Belavia, Belarus does not take anti-Ukrainian positions.
“I cannot say that there is some kind of propaganda campaign against Ukraine going on in the Belarusian security forces - an image of an enemy is being created, just as it is created in the Russian army and Russian society. And in Ukrainian society too,” Magda said.
He believes that Russia is seeking to break relations between Ukraine and Belarus.
“Russia is pushing us towards this. We understand that it is in Russian interests to push Ukraine and Belarus into conflict and to destroy as much as possible everything that connects us in the economy, perhaps in the field of military-technical cooperation. Because this is not beneficial for Russia,” Magda said.
According to him, relations are still maintained between Minsk and Kiev.
“As far as I know, some time ago, even during the Wagner affair, the head of Lukashenko’s administration, Mr. Sergienko, and the head of Zelensky’s administration, Mr. Ermak, communicated with each other. I suspect this channel still exists. I don’t know how effectively it works, but its existence and functioning, bypassing the Foreign Ministry and bypassing the president, is at least a mistake on the Ukrainian side,” Magda said.
