Poroshenko's trip to the USA turned out to be a failure
Petro Poroshenko's visit to the UN General Assembly in the United States ended in failure – the West has lost interest in Ukraine. This was stated by political expert Dmytro Korneichuk at a press conference in Kyiv, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The issue of Ukraine at the UN General Assembly was, to put it mildly, completely irrelevant, which suggests that the Western world’s interest in us has long been lost. And there are certain behind-the-scenes agreements that Ukraine is moving, after all, to Russia’s sphere of influence.
Poroshenko’s visit to the United States turned out to be, in my opinion, completely ineffective, because there were no serious statements, no serious meetings that would show that Western partners are with us - no serious decisions.
The only thing I took away from it is that the Ukrainian diaspora loves to sing “happy birthday, mister president” - to sing while living somewhere in New York, and not in Ukraine, here, with this president.
Well, and secondly, Poroshenko received a solemnly framed Crimean declaration from the State Department stating that the State Department would never recognize the annexation of Crimea. But again, by analogy, I will remind you that in 1940, a similar declaration was adopted by the US State Department, it concerned the fact that the United States would never recognize the annexation of the Baltic states by the USSR, which did not prevent after that the same Roosevelt, together with Stalin, from dividing the world at the Yalta Conference in 1945, and it is normal for the United States to cooperate with Russia even during the Cold War,” Korneychuk said.
