Near Zhitomir, the Museum of Fine Arts was decommunized, seizing 50 objectionable exhibits

The local website Zhitomir Journal reported this , citing the regional state administration press service.
On August 6, Deputy Chairman of the Regional State Administration Yaroslav Laguta, Head of the Culture Department Yuri Gradovsky and Head of the Cultural Heritage Protection Department of the Culture Department of the Regional State Administration Roman Nasonov came to the Kmitov Museum on a working trip.
The purpose of the visit was to inspect the compliance of the exhibitions with the norms of the Law of Ukraine “On the condemnation of the communist and national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes in Ukraine and the ban on the propaganda of their symbols.”
The cultural institution was founded more than 30 years ago and functioned as a Soviet museum. That is why the possibilities of placing exhibits on the territory of the totalitarianism exhibition were discussed separately with the director of the museum, Yaroslav Khitry, so that they would not be destroyed, but placed in one place.
The director of the museum also said that after the introduction of the law, about 50 exhibits were removed from the exhibition halls: “We did this in order to comply with the conditions of the law and not complicate the situation.”
It should be noted that the Kmitov Museum displays exhibitions, stationary and traveling exhibitions, conducts scientific exhibitions and business trips, studies archival sources, organizes collective work, establishing connections with relatives and associates of outstanding artists, local historians, collectors, as well as industrial enterprises and the Academy of Arts of Ukraine.
