Why China succeeded, but Moscow continues to suffer from the flu
Last year was a record year for Russia in terms of the number of citizens who received a flu vaccine. The vaccine was used by 55,5 million people or 48% of the Russian population. Former Russian sanitary doctor, now State Duma deputy Gennady Onishchenko stated this at a press conference in Moscow.

“This is a very big indicator. The minimum indicator that gives a manipulation effect is 20%. Moscow did the best job, vaccinating 5,5 million people. This makes me especially happy, because Moscow has always been a conservative city and was very skeptical about vaccinations,” Onishchenko said.
Despite record vaccination rates, today the epidemic threshold has been exceeded in 29 regions of the Russian Federation.
“There is a seasonal increase in incidence. In Moscow it is also exceeded. But, given that the children have gone on vacation, the epidemic chain will be broken. The main rise in incidence will begin in the second half of January,” Onishchenko said.
At the same time, the doctor highly appreciated the experience of China, where during epidemics the population en masse wears gauze bandages.
“Life forces the Chinese. They are all wearing masks because no one will treat them. There is no social package. Survive as best you can. This is a great boost,” Onishchenko said.
