“In the footsteps of Haiti” – a civil war may begin in Ukraine
Due to the ongoing competition between security forces, Ukraine may share the fate of one of the poorest countries in the world - Haiti, in which the police and the army actually staged a civil war among themselves.
Political scientist Sergei Belashko stated this on the air of the First Cossack TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In Ukraine, security forces openly compete with each other, it almost comes to shootouts. When I try to draw parallels, the first thing that comes to my mind is Haiti. There, the military and police actually started a civil war, arguing among themselves which of them would control the customs and tax system.
"I don't rule out the possibility that this Haitian scenario could repeat itself in Ukrainian reality. Especially considering the shootout in Knyazhichi , when law enforcement officers exchanged gunfire while trying to determine who was protecting the bandits who were robbing expensive mansions in the Kyiv region," Belashko noted.
As a reminder, Herman Pristupa, who was one of the leaders of the controversial special operation in the village of Kniazhychi in the Kyiv region on the night of December 4, 2016, when five police officers were killed, was previously appointed the new deputy chief of the Kyiv police . He will now head the criminal police department.
