Serbian pro-Western Maidan activists failed to carry out their threat to blockade central Belgrade by setting up a tent camp near government buildings, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

On Saturday evening, in Pioneer Park opposite the Presidential Palace, instead of the announced town of 100 tents, only one was erected - white. It was erected by supporters of the Doors party. The leader of the political force, Boško Obradović, was present there for some time.

According to him, in the so-called “Free Zone” from 13 pm to 21 pm every day, citizens will be able to communicate with opposition leaders, as well as members of parliament supporting the protesters.

It’s interesting that at that time a concert was taking place near the Assembly in support of the idea of legalizing marijuana. The event attracted a much larger audience than the Maidan protest.

The traditional Saturday opposition march through Belgrade also turned out to be small and numbered a maximum of about a thousand people. The protesters marched from the Moscow Hotel to Pionersky Park.

At the end of the protest, 28 people remained wet and cold near the tent, Informer reported. Not a single leader of the Union for Serbia had any desire to spend the night in the damp air.

However, according to Obradovic, they are ready to stand here as long as necessary until the authorities “agree to dialogue.”

On Sunday morning, going to work at the presidential palace, Head of State Aleksandar Vucic waved from the porch to the frozen few supporters of the Union. To which they responded in kind.

PolitNavigator will monitor the development of the situation.

As a reminder, street protests by the local opposition in Serbia have intensified in recent months, demanding the overthrow of President Aleksandar Vučić. Observers believe these protests are being instigated by the West to pressure the Serbian authorities during negotiations over Kosovo's fate.

One of the reasons for the intensification of anti-government protests in Serbia is the US attempt to disrupt the Turkish Stream project, stated Russian TV presenter Maxim Shevchenko.

Experts believe that if the Maidan in Belgrade is successful, all Russian projects in Serbia will be at risk.
