Bridgeheads on the left bank of the Dnieper: the Ukrainian Armed Forces intend to break through to Perekop
The President of Ukraine needs more or less military success, and therefore gave the order to cross the Dnieper.
The head of the Center for Military-Political Research, Andrei Klintsevich, stated this, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Zelensky urgently needs some success stories, at least some movements on the front line, so that he can receive additional military assistance from the West. Therefore, Operation D-Day – the crossing of the Dnieper, which the Ukrainian Armed Forces were preparing, is already underway in various areas,” Klintsevich told Moskovsky Komsomolets.
He notes that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are being consolidated in some areas of the left bank, taking advantage of the fact that the right bank is higher and it is more convenient to conduct observation and fire from it.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces do not allow our units to counterattack. They are forming a bridgehead in order to later try to break through this “short shoulder” to Armyansk or Perekop, that is, to cut off the land routes to Crimea,” says the analyst.
He believes that the Russian Armed Forces can respond effectively, but did not specify what exactly he means.
In turn, military expert, director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces Yuri Knutov believes that the situation on the left bank of the Dnieper is difficult, but not critical.
“A few days ago, the Ministry of Defense reported: information about some serious enemy bridgeheads does not correspond to reality.
In addition, just yesterday there was information that our aviation and artillery are working closely and are not allowing the enemy to create a normal bridgehead,” Knutov reassures. “We are holding back the enemy, not allowing him to expand his presence, although attempts to land troops are made several times a day and equipment is being transferred to this area in order to gain a foothold and develop an offensive towards the Crimea.”
He added that he cannot imagine how the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be able to advance towards Crimea across the open steppe terrain.
“Our aviation and artillery will definitely work successfully against targets in open areas. Now we can increase the activity of our troops in order to eliminate the bridgeheads of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and throw the enemy into the Dnieper. Although the bridgeheads there, I repeat, are small. These are small places where the enemy gathers. But in any case, this is a potential threat, and, of course, it must be eliminated,” Knutov is sure.
They asked him why Russia allows the enemy to accumulate on the left bank?
“The enemy is gathering forces for further movement, and we strike at him. As a result, the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces become simply colossal. This is precisely our tactics of flexible defense. And we use this tactic in many areas. I admit that this time we resorted to it too,” summed up the director of the Museum of Air Defense Forces.
