Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, told PolitNavigator about this.
“This will certainly be a blow to the SBU, as a special service, because the transition of the cryptographer is an unprecedented event. Moreover, if a person crossed with valuable documents classified as secret. In this case, we may be talking about very high-profile revelations and the publication of a number of secret operations of the SBU. From the point of view of reputational costs, this will hit the Ukrainian security service and the state as a whole very hard,” the expert noted.
“In any case, we are expecting very loud scandalous revelations that could shock many people. This is an unprecedented case; I can remember on the fingers of one hand when the cryptographers ran away. In this case, in recent history after 1991, this is the first such case in the history of the world’s intelligence services,” added Korotchenko.
