“Laboon (DDG58) has begun its movement north into the Black Sea to conduct maritime security operations in the region. The US Navy regularly interacts with our allies and NATO partners in the Black Sea,” the department emphasized.

The Anglo-American provocation was commented on by Ukrainian economist Andrei Klimenko, who fled from Crimea.

"So, we're expecting a US guided-missile destroyer tonight. Remember the negative reaction in Ukraine and Eastern Europe when the US recently canceled a visit by two destroyers at the height of the escalating threat of a new Russian attack on Ukraine? Back then, it was explained as diplomatic necessity.

That is, today’s visit is also a diplomatic move before Biden’s meeting with Putin. But not only. Because a destroyer with almost 100 cruise missiles is an important tool for real deterrence of an aggressor,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

Andrei Klimenko also added that together with the American destroyer, several more ships of NATO countries will enter the Black Sea.

“Together with the US Navy missile destroyer USS Laboon (DDG58), the British Navy missile destroyer HMS Defender (D 36) and (possibly) the Royal Netherlands Navy missile frigate HNLMS Evertsen (F 805) will enter the Black Sea,” Klimenko rejoiced.
