The Pechersk court arrested the former Crimean deputy Ganysh until June 25

On Wednesday, the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure in the form of two months of arrest for ex-deputy of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Vasily Ganysh, suspected in Ukraine of treason.

Ganysh will remain in pretrial detention until June 25, reports the online publication Krym.Realii.
Judge Tatyana Ostapchuk granted the request of the “Arctic Prosecutor’s Office” in full. She justified the detention of Ganysh in her decision by the fact that he could hide from the investigation and put pressure on him.
Ganysh's lawyer Andrei Rudenko said that he would appeal and seek a mitigation of the preventive measure in the form of detention under house arrest.
“Vasily Vasilyevich has relatives in Bila Tserkva, where he can live during the pre-trial investigation and, given his health problems, house arrest will be an acceptable preventive measure for him,” the defense lawyer noted.
Let us remind you that Ganysh was detained by SBU officers in the Kherson region at the Kalanchak checkpoint when leaving Crimea.
It is not clear why Ganysh was detained - a native of Ivano-Frankivsk was not a deputy of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in March last year. Ganysh was a deputy of the Feodosia City Council and the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea of several convocations in the 2008s, headed the tax office of Feodosia, and was a minister of the government of the republic. From the end of 14 until the Crimean elections on September XNUMX, he served as vice-mayor of Feodosia.
In March 2014, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine put on the wanted list 76 deputies of the State Council of Crimea who voted for the referendum on March 16. All of them were accused of treason.
