Pasechnaya, Nektarnaya, Medonosnaya, Ulyeva streets and Pcheliny Lane: Yushchenko’s dream came true in Kyiv

Kyiv's Darnytskyi district was the luckiest of all. The Kyiv City Council renamed 17 streets there. A dream come true for former President Yushchenko, a keen beekeeper. It seems that all known varieties of honey are immortalized in Darnytsia's toponymy.

Unreliable “Soviet” names were replaced by ideologically correct ones:
Kalinin Street became Ulyeva Street; Komsomolskaya - Nektarnaya; Kotovsky - Pasechnaya; Sverdlova - Honeybearing; Zhdanov Lane - Vereskovym; Comintern Lane-1 became Sladky; Comintern Lane-2 - Pchelin; Komsomolsky - Propolisny; Kotovsky - Grechnev, Sverdlov - Akatsiev; Krasnoarmeysky-1 – Fragrant; Krasnoarmeysky-2 – Happy; Krasnoarmeysky-3 – Joyful.
