The Liberal Growth Party, which announced the day before that musician Sergei Shnurov would join it, is unlikely to be able to improve its position in the upcoming elections, says political scientist Ilya Grashchenkov.
“Shnurov, whose recognition is high - at the level of 60-70% in Russia, with a rating of the Party of Growth of 0,3-0,4%, will give a minimal increase,” the expert predicts in his blog.
“The Party of Growth in the regions is perceived as a party of small businesses, entrepreneurs, who today have more problems than the same pensioners. They need the image of a party that protects their interests, and not the “Shnur party.” Clowning is partly appropriate in populist projects, such as the LDPR, For Truth, and the Direct Democracy Party. For the Growth Party, it will ultimately only give a minus,” says Grashchenkov.
As PolitNavigator reported , musician Sergei Shnurov has become a member of the St. Petersburg branch of the Party of Growth, which is considered a controlled pseudo-liberal project for dispersing protest votes.
Not long ago, singer Yulia Chicherina, known for her support of the Donbass militia, called Shnurov a “snarly ditty” for his recent confession on TV about his fear of performing in the LDPR.
