“Zelensky will have to form a coalition, otherwise he may be accused of usurping power. Batkivshchyna will become an ally, and Tymoshenko will again be prime minister. All other parties will go into opposition, but will not be able to act as a united front against Zelensky. For example, Poroshenko will advocate for speedy integration into the European Union, and the Opposition Platform, on the contrary, will advocate rapprochement with Russia,” predicts political scientist Kirill Molchanov.

In turn, Andrei Buzarov, a member of the Public Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, believes that Zelensky has a good chance of taking a majority in parliament if he relies on the Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov and Odessa regions, and also enters into an alliance with Tymoshenko.

“But it will not be possible to take a constitutional majority alone. In general, few people have succeeded in this in the history of Ukraine. As for Petro Poroshenko’s party, it may not enter parliament at all. . The role of the individual in Ukrainian politics is very important. It is obvious to everyone that Poroshenko cannot be in constructive opposition to Zelensky, which means that serious people will not invest or support him in any other way,” Buzarov noted.

As PolitNavigator reported, President Zelenskyy's decree on the early termination of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine's powers sets elections for a new parliament for July 21.
