Cancellation of trains to Russia will hit Poroshenko
If, as Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Vladimir Omelyan states, passenger trains to Russia are cancelled, this will primarily hit Petro Poroshenko’s rating on the eve of the presidential elections.
Economic expert Vsevolod Stepanyuk expressed this opinion on the NEWSONE television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Restricting rail service with Russia will hurt Poroshenko, according to Politnavigator. Ukrainian and Russian news on Rutube.
“On the one hand, within the boundaries of the nationalist electorate, he substitutes the prime minister. On the other hand, now all the negativity will be poured primarily on the president. The first election is presidential. When people - the same guest workers - cannot come to their families and are forced to travel through Minsk and Warsaw, then these are additional costs, several hundred dollars. I don’t think this will add popularity to the government candidate in the presidential elections,” he said
In addition, limiting communications will encourage Ukrainian citizens working in Russia to accept Russian citizenship, says Vsevolod Stepanyuk.
“These measures to restrict movement will push people towards citizenship. This is not at all a state position when a minister, an official, pushes people not to return to Ukraine but to look for ways to stay in another state. These are not disabled people or pensioners, these are the most active people with experience, specialists,” he said.
