Omelyan threatened the Russian Federation with “painful countermeasures and significant blows” in the Sea of Azov
Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Vladimir Omelyan claims that his department is developing a set of measures in response to inspections of merchant ships by Russian border guards in the Kerch Strait and the Sea of Azov.
A Ukrainian official, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent, announced this on Channel 5.
According to him, Ukraine’s reaction will be “tough”; all that remains is for it to be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.

“I am convinced that the countermeasures that we will propose in the near future will be supported by the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Infrastructure has already developed them, we have several rather, I would say, significant blows in response. This must be a government decision and after that it will be made public. But we believe that in conditions of war there can be no talk of any normal cooperation with the Russian Federation. And whether someone likes it or not, Ukraine’s actions must be tough and adequate,” Omelyan said.
Let us recall that after the capture of the Crimean fishing vessel “Nord” by Ukrainian border guards and the launch of traffic on the Crimean Bridge, the Russian Federation significantly strengthened security measures in the Black and Azov Seas.
The Border Service of the FSB of the Russian Federation conducts inspections of ships traveling through the Kerch Strait in order to neutralize the threat of sabotage, which Ukrainian officials, bloggers and so-called activists have repeatedly threatened. In Ukraine, these actions are considered a manifestation of aggression and they are calling for a UN and NATO convoy to be sent into the Sea of Azov.
