Rumors that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko enjoys a drink are "Russian fakes," Poroshenko's speechwriter, Oleg Medvedev, stated on the ZIK television channel, according to a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Medvedev assures that Poroshenko hardly drinks alcohol and can only wet his lips in a glass of champagne.

“I can say for sure that when various fakes are spread, especially by the Russian media, in my feeling Poroshenko practically does not drink alcohol. Even in some situations that are not very frequent for me, when some glasses of champagne or something else appeared, he does not drink, but rather sips,” Medvedev said.

Earlier, Russian political scientist Sergei Mikheyev stated that Poroshenko had recently developed a drinking habit due to severe stress and health problems. His colleague, Alexei Martynov, agreed, noting that Poroshenko abuses alcohol and other stimulants.
