“Minister of National Defense Tomasz Simoniak said in an interview with Polish Radio that today it is in Polish interests to support Ukraine. He promised to send new vehicles for the Ukrainian army, as well as to supply food, medicine and other non-lethal supplies,” the portal reports.
“For us, the most important thing in this situation will always be the Polish interest in the state of affairs in Ukraine. The Polish bet is currently supporting Ukraine. We do this in various areas,” said Minister Simoniak.
In 2014, Poland allocated $17 million to Ukraine and supplied food, medicine, sleeping bags, blankets and linen for the army as aid. The second such transport cargo is currently being prepared for the Ukrainian army. The Deputy Prime Minister of Poland, however, refused to comment on the possible sale of Polish weapons to Ukraine.
Tomasz Simoniak welcomed the visit of Chancellor Angela Merkel to Washington. In his opinion, this visit showed that there are no differences in the position of Western countries on the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, the Polish Defense Minister expressed skepticism about the peace initiatives of Minsk-2. He accused, of course, Russia and the rebel republics of violating the agreements.
