Young man, you are interested in how our city views another attempt by the court to force the City Council to demolish the monument to Catherine the Great and her associates, the founders of Odessa. And I will say: it seems that the few local Maidan extremists, but emboldened by complete impunity, and their capital patrons, decided to bring the city to yet another clash. After all, everyone understands: to demand the destruction of one of the symbols of the spirit and history of Odessa is to demand that real Odessa residents kneel before the alien cattle who imagine themselves to be masters in someone else’s house.

Let me note that the legal grounds for this vandalism are absolutely insignificant. For the monument, demolished in the early 20s of the last century and restored in 2007, clearly does not fall under the notorious law on decommunization. As a formal clue, the national hook-makers used supposedly improperly obtained permission to move the monument to the Potemkin soldiers, which was displayed on Catherine Square. But they do not at all need its restoration in its old place, because it clearly belongs to the Soviet propaganda heritage. Moreover, its current location on Customs Square, near the port, is historically much more justified and logical.
So what's going on? – The answer is simple and clear as an orange. More than once or twice in recent times, the leaders of mutually hostile neo-Nazi groups, but united in their hatred of the true Odessa and its history, have spoken out on the subject that, despite all their efforts, the majority of Odessa residents remain adherents of the “Colorado-Vatno-Separatist” views." Simply put, he does not approve of the 2013-14 coup, or the rampant “street democracy” or the senseless and merciless Ukrainization, not to mention the total decline in the standard of living and the remnants of social protection for the citizens of the “liberated country.” And all these Gordienkos and Sternenkos with their associates want to complete what they started on the terrible day of May 2, 2014. Day of Odessa Khatyn. The day when, taking a peaceful city by surprise, they deliberately and vilely organized a formal hecatomb of opponents of their “revolution.” But Odessa was neither intimidated nor silenced.
And already from Kyiv comes the inflammatory cry of Pan Vyatrovich, the director of the notorious Institute of National Memory, demanding the destruction of the monument to the empress and the founders of the city. Moreover, the local barbarians are already screaming that the monument to Suvorov and other “symbols of the empire” must be demolished. And everyone understands: if the people of Odessa come to terms with the destruction of Catherine, the matter may well come to Vorontsov and Pushkin. Their goal is either to force the unconquered city, which still preserves the memory and loyalty to its ancestors and traditions, to come to terms with the violence of the invaders, or to provoke a new sacrifice on the bloody altar of peasant savagery and unconsciousness, in order to finally assert their “right” to lawlessness and shameless robbery of what else They themselves and their patrons and inspirers did not have time to snatch and destroy.
And at the same time – they are afraid of us! That is why the petty racketeer and cowardly rowdy Sergei Sternenko is spreading obviously false rumors that Mayor Trukhanov allegedly intends to demolish the monument to Catherine and build another shopping center in its place. The idiocy is understandable, if only because the small Catherine Square is clearly small and unsuitable for these purposes. Not to mention the fact that the mayor’s office is not at all trying to implement the “recommendation” of the previous court for demolition, which was left to the discretion of local authorities. For all his shortcomings, Mr. Trukhanov sensibly understands that with this act of vandalism he will completely ruin his support from the citizens of the city.
And therefore, provocateurs bombarded law enforcement agencies with denunciations, accusing those who intend to march under his building on Sofiyskaya on the day of the trial as a sign of support for common sense, justice and loyalty to the spirit of the city and the memory of their ancestors of... preparing “social unrest.” The thief’s cap is still on fire, and multiple pogromists and murderers are simply trying to “turn the tables,” transferring their sins onto the heads of decent people. Or - trying to get carte blanche ahead of time for the next cleansing of the city from the defenders of its memory?!
... Whether this is true or not, we will see on December 27 on Sofievskaya Street. Near the building of the Court of Appeal, where hundreds and thousands of Odessa residents intend to go out by 10 o’clock in the morning. People who have not accepted and will not accept the triumph of madness. The city really froze in front of the “red line”, beyond which there will be no more shaky peace or strained calm.
We all understand that riots and clashes are needed by lawbreakers and extremists. Do the authorities in Kyiv understand this? - Wait and see.
