Jamaican Foreign Minister Kamina Johnson Smith denied the message of Kosovo "President" Hashim Thaci that her country recognized the independence of the territory seized by Albanian separatists from Serbia.
The head of the Jamaican Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this on her Twitter page, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“To date, Jamaica has not recognized Kosovo as an independent state,” Johnson Smith wrote, posting it over a copied earlier tweet from Hashim Thaçi in which he stated otherwise.

All the prominent representatives of the current separatist elite of Kosovo responded to the tweet with great enthusiasm.
“Very good news today. “Jamaica, an important Caribbean country and an important part of the Commonwealth of Nations, has officially recognized the Republic of Kosovo,” Kosovo “Prime Minister” Albin Kurti wrote on his account, for some reason attributing the credit for the fake recognition to his cabinet. “A good start to 2020 for Kosovo diplomacy and the new government.”

However, as it turned out, the triumph of the separatist elite was premature. After the information published by Thaci was refuted, the office of the Kosovo “president” referred to the fact that it had allegedly received an official notification from Citaku. At the same time, the separatist leader himself refused to comment on the situation to a journalist in Pristina.
