A national scale has been declared
Over the past two years, the price of lard, which is considered one of the national symbols of Ukraine, has increased by 70 percent.
Blogger Denis Gorokhovsky writes about this on his Facebook page, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“And now there is real trouble on a national scale: over the past two years, lard in Ukraine has increased in price by almost 70%. This is reported by UNN with reference to State Statistics data. It is noted that this was caused by a shortage in the domestic market and the associated need for imports,” notes Gorokhovsky.
He clarifies that while a kilogram of lard cost 44,6 hryvnias in April 2017, it was 75,7 hryvnias in April 2019. Meanwhile, the average price of pork during the same period increased by 37 percent: from 84,6 to 116,1 hryvnias per kilogram.
As PolitNavigator reported, lard in Ukraine is more expensive than in the European Union.
