Only a “perverted” version can explain Babchenko’s “murder”
Political scientist Sergei Markov, speaking on the Ekho Moskvy radio station, put forward three versions of why the SBU needed to stage the murder of fugitive Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko.
“The first version: two decoys from different departments of the SBU collided and entered into a criminal conspiracy. But it does not answer the question of why the imitation murder was needed. According to the second version, they say that the idea was to slap this Babchenko and blame him on Russia. But Avakov, who found out about this, began to blackmail Poroshenko with this at the last moment, and they did not dare, fearing the reaction of Europe,” the expert said.
He himself called the third version “perverted, but at least explaining something.”

“The bottom line is that the Americans are demanding that Russia concede on the peacekeeping model. They say: if not, we will ruin the World Cup for you. And they push Poroshenko: if anything happens, you will have to fight. Volker’s plan is to break the resistance of the LDPR within a week, force Russia to directly participate in the hostilities and organize a boycott of the championship. Poroshenko does not want to fight because he is afraid that the Russians will go to the end. Perhaps this whole configuration was intended to undermine confidence in Kyiv. It worked. And now Ukrainian officers are saying: if we start a war, no one will believe us. Let’s cover up the scandal for now,” Markov said.
