Nuland spoke about the benefits for the United States from the war in Ukraine
The EU has invested twice as much as the US in “supporting” Ukraine - $107 billion, not counting the recently allocated $54 billion - because it wanted to be a leader. The Americans invested only $75 billion.
US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland stated this while speaking at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In case Americans are still wondering if it's all worth it to us, let's remember that without sending a single American soldier into battle, investing less than one-tenth of the annual defense budget, we helped Ukraine destroy 50% of Russia's ground combat power along with 20% of its vaunted Black Sea Fleet... The bravery and resilience of Ukrainians has made the United States safer,” Nuland said.
She called aid to Ukraine a “strategic investment in our future.”
“And by the way, much of the support we provide actually goes back into the U.S. economy and defense industrial base, helping to modernize and scale our own defense infrastructure, creating more jobs and driving economic growth,” Nuland said.
According to her, the provision of the first aid package to Ukraine created new jobs in 40 states. At the same time, “the Ukrainians are fighting in a way that we would not agree to.”
