This was stated by Polish Minister of the Interior and Administration Marian Blaszczak, according to the newspaper Rzeczpospolita.
“The Palace of Culture and Science is a symbol of Soviet dominance, and symbols are of great importance because they shape the views, especially of young people, which is why the streets were renamed,” the minister said.

The publication writes that he referred to the words of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and National Heritage Piotr Glinski, who on Tuesday spoke about plans to mark the 100th anniversary of Polish independence.
The head of the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs recalled that 99 years ago on the square, now named after the Polish dictator Pilsudski, there was an Orthodox church, which was dismantled, “because it was a symbol of Russian domination in Warsaw.”
In turn, Polish Deputy Minister of Defense Bartosz Kownacki, quoted by Onet, said that the destruction of the building "could have been excellent training" for the Polish military.

The Palace of Culture and Science was built in 1955 as a gift to the Polish people from the USSR. This Stalinist skyscraper is located in the center of Warsaw and is the tallest building in Poland (237 meters including the spire). The author of the project is Soviet architect Lev Rudnev.
