Illegal immigrants in Serbia are isolated from the population, but in safe conditions
Minister of Defense and head of the Working Group on Migration, Alexander Vulin, visited the reconstructed Reception Center in Obrenovac, where illegal migrants arriving in Serbia will be placed under XNUMX-hour quarantine.
Serbian media reported this, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Migrants will be accommodated here, and this will help them, but first of all it will help the citizens of Serbia,” said Alexander Vulin. “If they did not have the proper conditions, they would be on the streets of our cities today, posing a threat to the safety and health of each of our citizens.
For all migrants in our country, a round-the-clock quarantine has been established until the danger (of the epidemic - ed.) passes. And thanks to donations (from commercial entities - ed.), we can do this humanely, safely, but, of course, first of all, taking into account that the citizens of Serbia will never be in danger.”

In turn, Commissioner for Refugees and Migrants Vladimir Cucic reported that today 11 out of 15 such facilities are being reconstructed in Serbia. And among the 8 thousand 800 people housed there, no one was diagnosed with coronavirus. The camps where migrants are kept are guarded by Serbian military police units.

At the same time, the migrant problem in Serbia may worsen due to the fact that Austria intends to return illegal immigrants to the Balkans, whom Vienna refused to provide temporary asylum.
In April 2019, a corresponding agreement, as a kind of formality, was signed between the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Austrian Ministry of Internal Affairs, but before that Vienna had never used it.
The number of migrants who will be returned to Serbia on the grounds that they entered Austria from the territory of this country has not yet been reported. But what is alarming is that, according to this document, Belgrade does not have the right to keep repatriated people in closed centers and is obliged to allow representatives of humanitarian organizations to see them.
Illegal immigrants in Serbia are being isolated from the general population, but in safe conditions.
