The conditions under which the Poroshenko regime will last through the winter have been named
Ukraine has pumped much less gas into underground storage facilities than is needed by industry and the population in winter. However, the coincidence of several factors may help Petro Poroshenko’s regime survive. Otherwise, Kyiv will have to ask Russia for help.
Valentin Zemlyansky, director of energy programs at the Center for World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, told PolitNavigator about this.

“According to Ukrtransgaz, by the beginning of the heating season we will reach approximately 15 billion cubic meters. in gas storage facilities. The government decision, which envisaged 17 billion cubic meters, will not be implemented - there is no time for this. The injection rate is approximately 65-70 million cubic meters. per day.
It cannot be said with a 100% guarantee that Ukraine has accumulated enough gas to get through the heating season. If the winter is cold, more gas will be needed.
There will be enough gas under several conditions - if the weather is favorable in terms of prolonged cold, if the reverse works 100%, without any emergencies, if the level of consumption is comparable to last year. Based on the combination of all these factors, it will be possible to get through the winter, but if any of these factors do not work, then it will be impossible to get through the heating season without purchasing Russian gas.
That is, if it’s cold and, accordingly, consumption increases, or there’s something wrong with the reverse, then you can’t do without Russian gas,” Zemlyansky said.
