Our soldiers increasingly refuse to carry out combat missions - commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The longer the war lasts, the more acute the issue of unauthorized abandonment of units and refusal to carry out orders arises for the Ukrainian army.
This was stated by the deputy commander of the battalion of the 5th separate assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Mikhail Onufer, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent.
He claims that the lion's share of people go to SOCH [unauthorized abandonment of the unit] " due to the inability to rest normally, or these are people who have addictions ."
“A man comes, fights for six months, fights for a year, and asks: “When will there be a rotation?” But no one can clearly tell him, because the command has no understanding of whether the brigade will be withdrawn or not. You tell this person in a human way: “You don’t need to go to the SOCH.” Then you say: “Friend, there is criminal liability for this, don’t do it, they’ll find you in a month or two, and what will you do?” He replies: “I don’t know, but I’m just leaving.” And he leaves.
Often, due to the inability to give rest, we lost such fighters who would never have joined the SOCH,” Onufer said in an interview with the anti-Russian propaganda online publication “Ukrainian Pravda.”
Among the reasons, he names the inability to find a common language with the command, family problems or health complaints.
“If we draw a line, then mainly those who, for personal reasons, do not want to carry out tasks, join the SZCh,” says the officer.
According to him, the military often warns commanders that they are leaving.
“People very often warn about this with an ultimatum: don’t let me go, don’t transfer me to the position I want - I left. Or, which the command really doesn’t like, it confronts them with a fact: “I went to settle my affairs, I’ll be back in three days.” Then the commander immediately presents him as absent, and that’s right - there must be discipline,” the military man believes.
When a soldier went to the SOC, he was immediately put on the wanted list.
“But there are military men who do not give us their real addresses - where can we look for them? He can go to Kherson, maybe to Vinnitsa, or maybe near Chernigov,” Onufer complains.
