Ex-Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anatoly Lopata stated this at a press conference in Kyiv.
“The army today is unable to resist the Russian Federation if it uses force the way it can today,” Lopata emphasized. “Even the force of an army group was not used against us; aviation, missile troops and artillery were not used in the way they can do.”
However, in 2014, Anatoly Lopata said that Ukraine could quite successfully defend itself against Russia with equipment from the Great Patriotic War, which, according to him, is in sufficient supply in Ukrainian warehouses and for which professional calculations are simply needed.
