“We must hurry”: Russia is still far behind the United States in combat aviation
Russia will have its first unit of fifth-generation Su-57 multirole fighters next year.
Military expert Alexander Artamonov stated this on air at the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio station, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“We do it very slowly, very leisurely. Let's tell the truth. We will be able to produce 25 cars per year in just three or four years. It’s very slow,” Artamonov said.
The problem of lagging behind the West will be solved with the help of new Su-75 Checkmate aircraft. These are fifth-generation vehicles with one accelerated production power plant, which are not inferior in combat characteristics to either the Su-30 or the American F-35.
“It will be possible to rivet up to a hundred of them per year. And still, we will be a little late, because the Americans have made the F-16 I don’t want - more than 3 thousand copies. So, God willing, we can produce nearly a thousand fighters within three to five years,” Artamonov said.
He believes that Russia needs to “accelerate the production of fighters and not treat them like diamonds that we polish and store in the Chamber of Facets,” since F-16s have already begun to arrive in Ukraine.
