“We are the youngest military formation in Ukraine. Compared to the internal troops, new functions are assigned: participation in the implementation of measures related to the cessation of armed conflicts and other provocations on the state border, as well as measures to prevent mass crossing of the state border from the territory of neighboring states. Participation in special operations to suppress the activities and unforeseen formations, armed, military, organized groups, criminal organizations on the territory of Ukraine. Participation in the implementation of wartime legal regime measures. These are military tasks.
At the same time, law enforcement functions: protection of the constitutional system in the country, the integrity of its territory, participation in the restoration of constitutional law and order in the event of attempts to seize state power or change the constitutional system through violence, in restoring the activities of state authorities and local governments. As we see, the functions are very relevant for today's Ukraine.
Taking into account these functions, we understand that the Guard is being restructured and will differ from the Armed Forces in that National Guard units will be in constant readiness to carry out assigned tasks and will be fully equipped with forces and means in peacetime, unlike the Armed Forces.
Units and units of the National Guard will differ from the Internal Affairs bodies in that they will be mobile, that is, they will have equipment, material supplies, and they will be able to redeploy to any point in Ukraine within XNUMX hours.
They will be autonomous, that is, due to the created reserves, capable of functioning for a long time in isolation from permanent deployment points, and they will have increased operational readiness to respond. That is, these units assemble for two hours a day and four hours at night and are ready to begin carrying out assigned tasks or move to another point in Ukraine,” Krivenko reported.
He confirmed that in the future there will be 20 thousand people in the ranks of the National Guard.
